What is Career Pathways?
This is a unique process that was created by the KnowledgeWorks Foundation in which regions can better align “publicly supported systems and programs” to build a knowledgeable workforce.
There are currently 14 states working towards creating career pathways and six of the processes are in Ohio with five being in Healthcare and one in Industrial.
This is a process by which regions can better align “publicly supported systems and programs” to build a knowledgeable workforce. The Southeastern Career Pathways is a partnership effort coordinated by Washington State Community College is serving as the lead organization and fiscal agent of the project funding.
Who is Eligible?
The Career Pathway process is a “free” service to all resident of Washington or Morgan County, Ohio who are interested in pursuing or advancing a career in the healthcare services fields. In addition individuals must be a
- Be minimum of 18 years of age
- Have a high school diploma or GED
- Working or desire for employment, incumbent workers
- Low Income/ Desire to increase income earnings
- Drive to continue education with needed support and assistance
How Do You Get Started?
Any individual in the healthcare track can be referred to the Career Pathway process from a local agency, employer or institution within Washington and Morgan counties. They are then referred to the Career Pathways Coordinator or Assistant and are asked to complete an application for enrollment. An interview will be conducted to review application, identify you education and employment healthcare goals and set a “plan of action” for each student. Each plan is customized to the needs of that particular individual.
What is the Importance of Community Based Partnerships?
Our Career Pathways model is based upon partnerships within Washington and Morgan Counties. This trusting relationship with educational institutions, agencies and local healthcare employers combined with clear lines of communication brings a different strength to helping individuals in the process. These ongoing synergies will ensure the long-term practice of the career pathway process and success for each participant.
