Workforce Development Program Discounts

We make your training options affordable!

We are excited to tell you that Workforce Development has partnered with OSU-Marion, Polaris Career Center and Terra Community College to apply for the 'Accelerated Workforce Development Partnership for Ohio's Advanced and High-Growth Manufacturing' Department of Labor grant.  This Partnership seeks to establish an aggressive approach to worker training by focusing both the core skill training and the on-the-job training for best efficiencies and economies.  The Partnership hopes to demonstrate a significant decrease in the time to develop workers to an "expert" level and, therefore, the costs associated with training workers. In addition, employers should see a significant increase in work quality, quantity, safety, morale, worker "capacity" and productivity. Multiple levels of credentialing are proposed, including the standard education credentials, certificates denoting mastery of the job, apprenticeship (hybrid model) certificates and others for industry recognition and portability. Schools will deliver traditional classroom (on-campus/on-site) and online content leveraging the sum of partner resources.  If awarded, the grant will cover 100% the cost of training.

Michele Tipton and Laurene Huffman were instrumental by coordinating with OSU-Marion, the grant project managers, in getting the needed Workforce Development paperwork submitted timely.  We believe we should hear about award toward the end of 2009.  For more information regarding about this grant, please contact Michele Tipton (mtipton@wscc.edu or 740.568.1928) or Laurene Huffman (lhuffman@wscc.edu or 740.568.1936).
